Upcoming Events:
- March 9, 2021 - Monthly Club meeting.
- Mar 13, 2021 - IRD with Sam Angelo (Wyoming Wood turner) on Zoom
The Interactive Remote Demonstrations (IRD) are a good value and convenient for demonstrators. They get to use equipment they are familiar with and in their own shop. We can sponsor these at reasonable cost to the club (no travel expenses) AND share the cost with other clubs. This is an advantage to smaller clubs that could not afford to have demonstrators come in person to demonstrate for their club. I foresee these IRDs becoming a permanent thing even after the pandemic is over. These IRDs are great! I hook up my laptop to my big screen TV and put it about 5 feet away from me. Better than being there in person.
Safety Tips:
- Ron Sheehan shared "Always wear face protection when the lathe is ON!" Make sure all locks on the lathe are tight and the chuck is attached firmly.
- If your head stock is moveable make sure it is tightened down so it cannot move.
- Periodically clean the tires on the band saw and clean the blade of any residue or crud.
Bill Tatkovski showed how he planned, designed, and built a twin spouted vase form. Included were some very interesting jigs and mounting techniques.
Kirk Kapp has Parfix available https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akSw3PETc8g
Byron Light has Anchorseal in gallon jugs.
